2019 Youth Competition
The ArtWalk Youth Competition is a celebration of art and artists from ages 0-18 years old, with art displayed in public and private spaces. The public views the art and votes for their favorites, with prizes awarded for the top vote-getters. Entries will be exhibited in one location: Loutit District Library located at 407 Columbus Ave. in Grand Haven. If you think you’d like to be a part of this wonderful exhibit, start planning. Get creating. And spend the summer making great art! You can even submit a masterpiece you made at school! Bring art and register at the Library Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17.
Open to artists in age groups:
• 8 years & younger
• 9-13 years
• 14 years through high school senior
ART CATEGORIES
Category 1 – Drawing
Basic Definition: Artwork has height, width, implying volume, space and color with the use of line.
Category 2 – Painting
Basic Definition: Artwork would include any paint or mix of paint media
Category 3 – Photography
Basic Definition: Traditional photo process, digital, and computer enhanced.
Category 4—Sculpture (3-D)
Basic Definition: Artwork would have height, width and depth. Inclusive of, but not limited to, the following materials: stone, cement, wood, metals, plastics, fibers, etc.
Category 5 – Specialty Media
Basic Definition: Any media that cannot be defined by the other four categories, inclusive but not limited to jewelry, fabrics, fiber, etc
Youth ArtWalk Events
September 16 -17 9am – 8pm Registration and art drop off at Loutit District Library
September 18 – October 1 Youth voting
October 2 6pm-8pm Awards ceremony and ice cream social at Loutit District Library
