ArtWalk 2016

Grand Haven ArtWalk is an annual collaboration of artists, local businesses and members of the lakeshore community in a collective celebration of art. Artists from the local area and beyond participate in an art competition in the following categories: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture(3D) and mixed media. ArtWalk will take place Sept. 21- Oct. 9.

Along with daily public judging and juried voting, ArtWalk will boast a series of evening soirees that highlight the artists, venues and friends of ArtWalk. There will also be street parties complete with free food and live music, wine tastings, school field trips and a youth competition for artists ranging in age from zero to 8, all the way to 17 years old.

Ribbon Cutting

Ceremony to be held at the Brass River, end of Washington Ave.  Artist Meet & Greet at their respective venues until 6:00pm.


Saturday, September 24@ 11:30am

ArtBike Parade

Decorate your bike and join in the parade down Washington Avenue. Prizes awarded. Free to enter! Registration begins at 10:30 at the intersection of Washington and Third.


Saturday, September 24 @ 11:30am – 3:00PM

ArtWalk Family Art Day

Join us at the end of Washington Avenue for a fun family afternoon of painting.  Paint your own canvas and enjoy lunch on the North side of the Depot Transportation Museum.  Food by Harbor Restaurants.  This is a free event!


Sunday, September 25 @ 1:00-4:30pm

Music and Artist Meet & Greet

Sweet Lou & the Savages will be playing and many artists will be at their respective venues to meet and greet and discuss their art with visitors. We are closing off First St. between Washington and Columbus and setting up a stage and chairs in the street. The music will begin at 1:00 p.m. At 1:30, a few words will be said about Artwalk and the importance of art in our community and the artists in attendance will be recognized. Around 1:45 music will resume, but the crowd will be encouraged to walk around to the venues and check out the art.


Wednesday, September 28

4th Grade Education Day

Grand Haven Public Schools fourth grade students will tour, discuss, and learn about art as they visit the ArtWalk venues, including the Youth Competition at the Loutit District Library.

Artist Studio Crawl, 6:00pm – 8:30pm

Tour the inner workings of artists’ studios.


Saturday, October 1

Artist Market at Tri-Cities Historical Musem, Noon–5:00pm

Artists will be displaying and selling their work at the Tri-Cities Historical Museum.

Mitten Tree Decorating, 10:00am – Noon

This is the last day to get your small Mitten Tree decorate it and get it entered by noon.  Display and Judging will be at the Artist Market hosted by Tri-Cities Historical Museum.  Various art supplies will be available for use.  Trees are available at the Armory Art Center for $30.

ArtWalk Closes

Artists can now pick up their works

 Visitors to Grand Haven ArtWalk can easily reach all four ArtWalk zones on foot, experiencing a true walking art tour while soaking in the charm of historic Grand Haven. Attendees can also enjoy the array of events and activities scheduled during ArtWalk.

After visiting the participating venues and viewing the art, the public and a juried panel will vote on their favorites in each category. From these votes, winners  will receive cash prizes at the ArtWalk awards ceremony.
