ArtWalk 2017

Grand Haven ArtWalk is an annual collaboration of artists, local businesses and members of the lakeshore community in a collective celebration of art. Artists from the local area and beyond participate in an art competition in the following categories: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture(3D) and mixed media. ArtWalk will take place Sept. 28 – Oct. 8.

Along with daily public judging and juried voting, ArtWalk will boast a series of evening soirees that highlight the artists, venues and friends of ArtWalk. There will also be street parties complete with free food and live music, wine tastings, school field trips and a youth competition for artists ranging in age from zero to 8, all the way to 17 years old.

Events slated for 2016 ArtWalk include:

Thursday, September 28     Official Opening of ArtWalk 2017

Saturday, September 30       Family Art Day

11:30 – 2 PM. Near the Waterfront Depot Museum. Everyone is invited to create their own masterpiece. Watch for event updates.

 Sunday, October 1                   Music and Artist Meet and Greet 

1 – 4:30 PM.  Sweet Lou and the Savages take the stage on 1st St. between Washington and Columbus.

 Tuesday, October 3                Voting ends.

 Thursday, October 5            ArtWalk 2017 Awards 

6 PM at the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus.

Friday, October 5                     First Friday Art Hop

Visit the local galleries for opening night shows.

 

ArtWalk Youth Events

Wednesday, September 20              Youth Art Competion begins.

Public voting kicks off at noon. Loutit District Library, 4o7 Columbus.

Monday, October 2                               Public voting ends at noon.

Tuesday, October 3                              Sponsor 4th Grade Education Day.

Throughout downtown and centertown.

Tuesday, October 3                               ArtWalk Youth Awards

6 PM at Loutit District Library, 407 Columbus.

Sunday, October 8                                  Free Concert

2 PM at Loutit District Library, featuring Boardwalk Brass of Grand Haven.

 Visitors to Grand Haven ArtWalk can easily reach all four ArtWalk zones on foot, experiencing a true walking art tour while soaking in the charm of historic Grand Haven. Attendees can also enjoy the array of events and activities scheduled during ArtWalk.

After visiting the participating venues and viewing the art, the public and a juried panel will vote on their favorites in each category. From these votes, winners  will receive cash prizes at the ArtWalk awards ceremony.
