Each year the Grand Haven Main Street DDA’s Preservation & Place Committee, working with the ArtWalk Planning Committee, takes great care to select a public art project that embodies the spirit of our community. This year we are giving a nod to the U.S. Coast Guard with Ship Shape!
Ship Shape is a hardworking little vessel that lends itself to any number of creative decorative treatments. The full-size plywood structure stands approximately 5 feet tall and has a port hole for little faces to peek through, offering many photo opportunities. The ship is accompanied by a large wave, a cut out of an anchor, and a friendly seagull. Smaller Ship Shapes are also available.
We encourage you to join in this fun event and show your business and community pride by ordering a Ship Shape. Make it your own and proudly display it in front of your business or home during the summer months. Use your imagination to make it unique. Some ideas to get you started are: Little Toot, Yellow Submarine, Little Mac, Titanic Queen Mary, Das Boot or a local fishing boat. Let your ideas run amuck! As in the years past, there will be a judging and awards given during ArtWalk 2015.
Ship Shape display and public judging on Saturday, October 3 from noon until 5pm on the first block of Washington Ave. Voting ends at 2pm with winners announced at 3pm.
Ship Shapes are available for purchase at Michigan Rag Co., Fat Chix and Paper Place.
Size 5″x 4″ $250.00
Size 2″ tall $35.00
We encourage you to relate your Ship Shape to your business but not use it as a billboard. The design may not contain a business name or logo. All ships located on public property must be removed by Monday, October 12, 2015.
